Évora
Great Activities with Kids and Teens:
Literally a cave with rock paintings and engravings!
There is a little museum tour at the “Interpretive Center” and then you drive over to the cave for a 45-minute tour.
Email in advance to reserve a tour in English.
The chapel is incredible to see - literally lined with bones.
The rest of the museum may or may not be interesting to everyone, but the chapel is worth the visit.
Worth it for the views from the rooftop, and also the thrill of letting your kids run around on a cathedral roof.
Megaliths (Almendres Cromlech)
We didn’t get all the way to the megaliths because the roads were in really bad shape and the hike was too long for our family. But it looks cool!
Places to Eat:
“The Witch of Évora” - We had a delicious dinner here and the staff were super friendly
Great Italian food with options for everyone
Travel and Transportation:
Évora is just over a 1.5 hour drive from Lisbon, with no great train lines running to the small city. Driving is your best bet. This also allows you to visit some of the attractions outside of the city.
The city itself, however is very walkable with a lot of charm.
